NAWB Forum Highlights The Modern
Workforce

National Association of Workforce Boards held their annual conference May 25-May 28 in Washington DC. This year’s theme centered on the “Modern Workforce – Leading by Example; Led By Purpose”. Ohio workforce systems were actively engaged in The Forum sessions including the presentation “Using Behavioral Nudges to Increase Young Adult Utilization of Workforce Services: Lessons from Ohio” with representatives from Cleveland/Cuyahoga County and Ohio Department of Job & Family Services presenting lessons learned from a learning partnership between workforce boards, DOL’s Chief Evaluation Office, and the American Institutes of Research to implement and test a series of new text-messages drawing on behavioral science. “Igniting Community & Participant Engagement 2.0” featured Ohio Workforce Area 7’s Rocky Rockhold sharing information on how the Greater Ohio Workforce Board is serving as an apprenticeship sponsor that has enhanced their level of engagement with business. Ohio representatives visited The Hill and had a chance to stop by their congressional offices and share information from their local areas.
