Walsh University’s Skilled Technical Workforce Training Program

Walsh University’s Skilled Technical Workforce Training Program has been nationally recognized for five consecutive years by Dr. Victor McCrary, Chairman of the National Science Board, for its leadership in advancing workforce development. The program delivers customized training to companies, equipping their employees with specialized technology skills needed to stay competitive in an increasingly tech-driven economy. It also opens doors for unemployed individuals and high school students who are not pursuing traditional degree pathways, providing them with valuable, transferable skills.

This initiative directly responds to Ohio employers’ growing need for a more technologically skilled workforce. As the state attracts new businesses and expands its economic footprint, demand for workers with advanced technology competencies continues to rise. Walsh’s program helps meet this demand by offering clear pathways for individuals to gain relevant skills and enter the workforce prepared for emerging job opportunities.

The program benefits the broader community by strengthening economic competitiveness. By expanding access to training and industry-recognized credentials, it supports unemployed individuals and students in transitioning into meaningful employment—ultimately contributing to job creation and local economic growth. Its strong program structure has also produced significantly higher completion rates than anticipated, further enhancing workforce readiness in the region.

Walsh University is consistently recognized as one of the state’s top Education Providers for TechCred and has recently been named an Education Provider for IMAP. Both programs focus on upskilling current employees and developing new talent with in-demand technology skills. Combined with its national recognition from leaders like Dr. McCrary, Walsh’s Skilled Technical Workforce Training Program continues to stand out as a model for preparing Ohio’s workforce for the demands of a rapidly evolving, technology-driven economy.
