Apprenticeships demonstrate the power of worker mobility—helping individuals grow their skills, increase their earnings, and move into high-demand careers. For Owen Anstine, that path began with the Canton Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (JATC), where he is training as an Inside Wireman apprentice. With support from OhioMeansJobs Stark & Tuscarawas Counties, Owen received funding for the essential tools and supplies he needed to succeed

Through the program, Owen is gaining real-world experience while laying the foundation for a lifelong career. “This apprenticeship is about more than just learning the trade—it’s about building a future,” Owen shared.

Today, he continues his apprenticeship journey while employed at Hilscher-Clarke Electric Company. By connecting people to hands-on experience, critical resources, and strong partnerships with training providers and employers, Stark Tuscarawas Workforce Development Board helps create career pathways that bring stability, higher wages, and growth—for both workers and the community.
